RESUMO:
This research, conducted in the first semester of 2023 at the Integral Technical Citizen School Obdúlia Dantas in Catolé do Rocha, Paraíba, aims to analyze the impact of the elective course "My School Has History: The Northeast by Students" on the formation of identity and historical consciousness of technical high school students. The objective was to investigate how the course could contribute to a more critical and deeper perception of the Brazilian Northeast, particularly in the relationship between local history and regional identity. Methodologically, the study followed the Problem-Posing Methodology, aligned with the Maguerez Arch, and was structured in five stages: observation of reality, identification of key points, theorization, elaboration of solution hypotheses, and application to reality. Results showed that the active methodology and the structure of the course allowed students a more critical and reflective understanding of the Northeast, culminating in the elaboration of a final project that synthesized their perceptions and acquired knowledge. The work concludes that the integration of local history into the curriculum through elective courses can be an effective strategy for the development of students' historical
consciousness and cultural identity, reiterating the need for further investigations that explore this educational approach.
