RESUMO:

The research addresses the magazine “Brasil Salineiro” as a historical source for producing and understanding local history and its use in the classroom. To this end, we analyzed the publication during its circulation period between 1953 and 1963, a historical context denoted by the National Developmentalism policy. The study of the theme presents itself as a relevant element for the understanding of the history of Mossoró, given the prominent role of the salt parks in the economic, political, and social configuration of the municipality. Through a cultural history of the social, a qualitative analysis of the text reflects the articulation between the production and circulation of knowledge about salt in Revista and local history. Providing a new way of looking at periodicals and magazines as sources and historical archives for didactic use in the classroom and thus contributing to history teaching by proposing new elements and approaches.
