RESUMO:
This work aims to analyze the construction of referential networks and their relationship with the argumentation in signed opinion columns. More specifically, we aim to: Identify the most prominent referents in the selected columns; Describe the (re)construction of referents identified; Examine the types of relationships that (re)constructed referents maintain among themselves in formation of the reference networks highlighted in the columns; Relate the construction of referential networks with the argument developed in the columns.
To achieve this, we adhere to the theoretical framework of Textual Linguistics, emphasizing the interface between it and the Theory of Argumentation in Discourse (AMOSSY, 2020), whose basic principle is that argumentation is a constitutive dimension of discourse. To situate ourselves In this dialogue, we follow the path outlined by Macedo (2018) and Cavalcante et al. (2020), authors who have demonstrated how this theoretical contact can be established. The textualization strategy that what we propose to investigate is referencing and, for this, we follow the basic foundations established by Mondada and Dubois (2003), the unfolding points pointed out by Custódio Filho (2011) and the notion of networks references, coined and developed by Matos (2018).
The research corpus consists of six columns signed opinion pieces, all collected from the newspaper Folha de São Paulo. The signed opinion column, which we approach based on Alves Filho (2005), it is a journalistic genre that is characteristically opinionated by through which journalists express their positions on events relevant to the society. From a methodological point of view, we highlight the use of the deductive method, since we start from the general (TL theoretical framework) to the particular (the columns that make up the corpus), and from a qualitative approach, focused on describing, explaining and interpreting the relationship between referential networks and argumentation in the analyzed data.
The results of this work demonstrate that the referents are (re)constructed in the complete textual dynamics of the analyzed signed opinion columns, considering- if, for this purpose: referential expressions, predications, adjectives, cognitive aspects (in particular, the inferences), contextual data and – we want to emphasize – the multiple relationships that the referents maintain among themselves, in order to form the referential networks that make up the text. As for the argument, it was found It is clear that referential networks are built in columns always in an attempt to influence readers, seeking to make them adhere to the positions defended by columnists.
Considering the nature opinion column of the signed opinion column genre, it was highlighted that columnists have the freedom to reconfigure referents in order to cover them with explicitly evaluative features. From all this, it can be concluded that the notion of referential networks is a fundamental advance in referencing research, as it allows us to approach the (re)elaboration of referents in an increasingly complex and sophisticated way. In addition In addition, the productivity of the dialogue between Textual Linguistics and Argumentation Theory was demonstrated in the Speech.
