RESUMO:

The trajectory of Eros love permeates literature recurrently and assumesvariables that suit the social and existential context of the subject. In this way, the present research aims to make a critical study about love relationships and how these relationships influence the paths and polish the identity of the female characters in the novels Nas tuas mãos (2005), by Inês Pedrosa, and A noite das mulheres cantoras (2012), by Lídia Jorge. Therefore, the theoretical discussions are anchored on assumptions by Carlos Reis (2004), Miguel Real (2012), Álvaro Cardoso Gomes and Ana Paula Arnaut (2010), who point out reflections on aspects and forms that the contemporary Portuguese novel adheres to; Plato (2012), a primordial source for the conception of love in the West, bases the reflections on Eros love, along with the considerations of more contemporary theorists, such as Denis de Rougemont (1988); Júlia Kristeva (1988), who takes a psychoanalytic view and reflects on the unfolding of love in the subject in love; Anthony Giddens (1993) adopts a more social perspective on the relationships inserted in modernity; and Roland Barthes (1981) deals with terms that permeate and shape literary discourses on love. That is, for the full realization of this work, the theoretical paths cross philosophical, psychoanalytical, social, and cultural axes.
