RESUMO:

The study highlights the development of listening comprehension in teaching Spanish as a foreign language (ELE) through a podcast focusing on slang and idioms. The general objective of this research is to analyze how the podcast can help in the teaching and learning of listening comprehension in Spanish as a foreign language. In more detail, the three specific objectives of the work are: i) To know the perceptions of Brazilian Spanish teachers about teaching listening comprehension, especially slang and idiomatic expressions, through podcasts. ii) To identify the perceptions of Brazilian students of Spanish about learning listening comprehension, especially slang and idioms, through podcasts. iii) Propose guidance to teachers, through a digital booklet, to assist in teaching Spanish through podcast for the development of listening comprehension. The research is theoretically based on the contributions of Moraes (2022), Bordón (2001), Abella (2002) and Souza (2018), when dealing with the teaching and learning of listening comprehension in ELE classes, in Freitas et al. (2018), Perini (2010), Petri (2006), Bagno (2012), Senefonte (2013), Ortiz Álvarez (2002) and Nogueira (2008), with regard to teaching and learning slang and idioms in ELE classes, finally, in Marcuschi (2005), Simão (2022), Barros e Menta (2007), Bakhtin (2011), Elekaei et al., Tumolo (2014) and Forbes (2011) to approach the podcast as a digital genre and its specificities. We adopted a qualitative approach and descriptive nature in the study. As a result, we hope to understand how the podcast can help in the development of ELE listening comprehension, focusing on slang and idioms. Thus, through the responses of Spanish teachers and students to a questionnaire, we intend to analyze their perceptions regarding the use of the podcast to, finally, offer practical proposals, through a digital booklet, to be worked on in Spanish language classes to improve teaching and learning listening comprehension, especially using slang and idioms, using podcasts.
