RESUMO:

This qualification report is the result of observations and studies arising from discussions present in the Postgraduate Program in Planning and Territorial Dynamics in the Semi-Arid Region (PLANDITES/UERN), which provided opportunities for contact with various areas of knowledge and enabled greater interaction between various aspects of the knowledge linked to urban planning, housing policies and urban land subdivision (explained during the meetings of the disciplines offered by the postgraduate program). This discussion is not restricted only to the areas of Geography, Law, Architecture and Urbanism, but to a set of areas that seek, in short, to promote improvements to the historical, economic, political, cultural and social contexts of the Brazilian semiarid region and , in particular, the city space. This time, the aforementioned report deals with the urbanization process, the socio-spatial product of urbanization (city), production and the conformation of the urban space of Doutor Severiano (RN), urban planning, urban land subdivision, policies for the provision of social housing and its general objective is to analyze the urban reconfiguration of Doutor Severiano from the diffusion of the São Francisco I subdivision, from 2013 to 2021. This configuration has been undergoing changes since 2013, being fostered, in the first analysis, by the promotion of the São Francisco I subdivision, located in the southern part of the city.
