RESUMO:

The growth and importance of tourist activities have been important promoters of the economy of the Cariri Cearense Region, following the same movements in other realities and territorial scales. The city of Barbalha is inserted as an important destination stimulating government public policies to stimulate the sector. As it is located in an area of relevant biodiversity that is the Araripe Sedimentary Basin and is a UNESCO World Geopark territory, concerns about sustainability are relevant. Thus, the present study aims to study the sustainable character of public policies for the promotion of tourism in the municipality of Barbalha/CE, having as a problem question the following question: the public policies for promoting tourism implemented in the municipality of Barbalha/CE are presented as promoters of sustainable development?
