The fundamental right of access to drinking water: a case study in the municipality of Cajazeiras/PB

It is public and notorious the fact that society is going through a serious environmental crisis, driven by the exponential growth of the population, in addition to consumerism and inadequate waste management, which originate processes of environmental pollution, aggravated by the lack of awareness and consequent depletion of natural resources. Given this scenario, the work aims to evaluate the management of drinking water distribution and analyze water management and access to drinking water, focusing on the municipality of Cajazeiras-PB. To this end, objectives were set such as identifying, understanding the evolution, analyzing municipal management and ascertaining the environmental perception of users of water resources in Cajazeiras-PB. Given this context, after detailing the strategic characterizations of the territory under analysis, the research was developed in a qualitative-quantitative way with procedures and instruments that range from a systematic review to understand the theme and environmental impact assessment with the application of questionnaires at strategic points of the municipality (urban and rural) with the elaboration of proposals for the correct water management. As for the results, it is expected, through the identification and analysis of management, to understand the evolution and ascertain the environmental perception of the users of water resources in the municipality in focus. In view of the reality found, measures will be made to implement the planning and management of drinking water, through preventive and corrective procedures capable of avoiding or mitigating the environmental impacts and social damage arising from the management model and final disposal of water resources in the municipality of Cajazeiras- PB.
