RESUMO:

The 21st century is the scene of wars, pandemic, destruction of the environment, economic and social crises, in the midst of this, man emerges as a protagonist in the appropriation of goods and bodies, most of the time through violence, alarming rates of murders, physical aggressions and disrespect among men themselves, against women and LGBTQIAP+ groups, facts like these, indicate the urgency of rethinking the roles historically attributed to men within society. In this sense, the present work aims to analyze the patterns of masculinity and violence against gays and transvestites in the city of Catolé do Rocha, located in the hinterland of Paraíba. Therefore, it is essential to present the historical and social context that cooperate for the imposition of the pre-established model of masculinity and confront it with the current social transformations. There is growing theorization to the fact that most of our social representations of hegemonic heterosexual masculinity are toxic and dangerous (ANTRA, 2020), in the meantime, it is important to present the concept of heteroterrorism and highlight the indicators of violence against LGBTQIAP+ people in Brazil focusing on the particularities of the territory studied. According to data from the Ministry of Health, the Department of Human Development (Brasil, 2019) and the NGO Grupo Gay da Bahia (2021), the Northeast is the most homophobic region in Brazil, leading the number of aggressions against protagonists who diverge from the pattern ideologically represented as a Northeastern male (Albuquerque Júnior, 2013), specifically gays and transvestites. For this, this social research (Minayo, 1993), of a qualitative descriptive nature, will collect data with the professionals who are part of the multidisciplinary team of the Centro de Referência Especializado em Assistência Social- CREAS, as these are the group that welcomes gays and transvestites victims. of violence. Professionals who are active in their roles during the research period will be selected. Data collection will be carried out in person through a focus group technique where the five participants will talk about themes previously elaborated in the perspective of identifying sexist attitudes that culminate in the types of physical, verbal and psychological violence investigated. It is intended to produce a frame of reference that indicates the relationship between patterns of masculinity and the types of violence against gays and transvestites as a way of naturalizing masculinity using Bardin's Content Analysis (2009) aiming at the construction of important categories in the organization of information essential to the study. In this way, to contribute to the internalization of discussions in the semiarid region, to encourage new studies and questions about the topic addressed, to collaborate in the construction of data with the State Department of Human Development of Paraíba in order to fill the gaps caused by underreporting, bringing visibility to the cases of violence, encouraging the reflection of the whole society in the search for resolution and increased protection for gay people and transvestites.
