RESUMO:

The study analyzed the relationship between sleep quality and high blood pressure among controls. For this, a cross-sectional, analytical and quantitative research was developed, with 87 families of farmers residing in the rural area of the city of Tenente Ananias-RN. The collection took place through experimental, semi-structured (sociodemographic and clinical data) and the Pittsburg assessment to assess sleep quality, applied in the period from Dec/2021 to Jun/2022. For the comparison of the means of systolic and diastolic blood pressure, data normality was observed, using Student's t test and ANOVA, or Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis. The association between sleep quality and arterial hypertension was analyzed using non-parametric X2 testicles and the likelihood ratio test. The linear fly analysis between difficulty sleeping (scale from 10 to 40) and sleep alteration (scale from 5 to 20) with hypertension was performed using Spearman's therapy prescription, and to compare the means of these two categories, the Student's t, ANOVA, or Mann-Whitney and Friedman. Note that the majority of the public in the rural area is comprised of males, elderly, of brown ethnicity and with low educational level. Although 40.2% reported systemic arterial hypertension, 58.7% being classified as having poor sleep quality, and 26.2% having a sleep disorder, no statistical significance was found between the variables. There were statistical associations between age group and arterial hypertension (p=0.02) and between the number of residents versus Score (p=0.05). Rheumatoid arthritis had a significant relationship with the score (p=0.02) and the age group with the score (p=0.04). Therefore, it was not possible to infer a statistical correlation between sleep quality and arterial hypertension, differing from literature data. sleep among farmers, highlighting the urgency of directing attention to this type of population, which historically has low access to health services.
