Water is a key element for the survival of all life on Earth. It is a resource that since ancient civilizations has contributed to economic expansion involving agricultural and industrial activities, thus acquiring great economic value and essential for development. The Semi-Arid region is a region in the Brazilian Northeast characterized by the predominance of a semi-arid, hot and dry climate, with relatively high temperatures with annual averages of 23 °C to 27 °C, low rainfall (300 to 800 mm/year) that occur irregular in space and time (from three to four months), high evaporation rates that reach an average of 2,000 mm/year.
