THE CREATION OF CIEJA PROFESSORA JURACI SORES DE MELO (LAJES/RN): TENSIONS, POLICIES AND DEMANDS
CIEJA/Lajes/RN, EJA, Demands, Political Processes, Policy Cycle.
The object of study of this research is the Integrated Center for Youth and Adult Education -
CIEJA Professor Juraci Soares de Melo (Lajes/RN), based on the question: Why and how did the process of
creating CIEJA occur in the municipality of Lajes/ RN? The general objective is to investigate political processes
in the constitution of CIEJA Professora Juraci Soares de Melo, based on the demands that justify its creation.
To delimit the study, we established the following specific objectives: to investigate which demands justified the
creation of the school; highlight which policies were developed for the insertion of CIEJA in that municipality;
and understand how the subjects signify the contributions of CIEJA inserted in this process.
This is a qualitative study, of an exploratory nature, based on the Policy Cycle (CP) of Ball and Bowe (1992),
with reference to the studies of Lopes and Macedo (2011), Mainardes (2006), Santos and Oliveira (2013) and in
Ball's Theory of Actuation; Maguire and Braun (2016). The method includes literature review, questionnaires
and semi-structured interviews. The structure of the text comprises four chapters: the introduction,
presenting the justification, experiences and objectives; a chapter on the EJA categories and the state of
knowledge about them; a third chapter detailing the theoretical-methodological assumptions of the research;
and, finally, a fourth chapter dedicated to empirical research data, seeking to understand the demands that led
to the creation of the school, including the perspective of those involved. The research highlights the
importance of deepening studies on the curriculum in EJA, emphasizing the role of the school not only as an
implementer, but also as a promoter of policies.
