RESUMO:

Dear Spect-Actors, the curtains are opened for magic to happen: the Theater of the Oppressed and Mathematics. In this dissertation act will be discussed and positioned concepts, themes, games, exercises and theatrical activities problematization of the oppressor/oppressed relationship in activities and contents of mathematics teaching unfolded in two schools, a public and a private network, in the classes of the 5th year of elementary school, in the city of Mossoró, Rio Grande do Norte. The theoretical and methodological assumptions are given in the connection between: Augusto Boal (1980), playwright and systematizing theater director of the Theater of the Oppressed, Paulo Freire (2013), educator and philosopher who discusses in his books about a liberating education whose perspective is action-reflection-action to instigate questions and critical thoughts of political, social and cultural dynamics, e Ubiratan D’Ambrosio (1992), mathematics teacher who introduces Ethnomathematics, understanding of the nature of mathematics and the different angles of reality. The Theater of the Oppressed connection, with Pedagogy of the Oppressed and Ethnomathematics unfolds via the methods, concepts, games and exercises, which are devices to access a study of reality, and bring up the issues that emerge in the students' daily lives. The research is developed from qualitative and ethnographic approaches, whose methodological procedures involve the construction of a pedagogical proposal in mathematics teaching, involving the methods of Theater of the Oppressed such as Theater-Image, Theater-Forum and Theater-Newspaper, relating sociocultural and socio-historical issues, such as social inequality, with students and always highlighting the mathematical content, being the creators, actors and directors of the theatrical scenes that will be built.
