RESUMO:

The profile of school managers has gained space in the debate about school management, their function, their role, their training and information that is part of their professional appear in research as something that can influence the development of their function. With this, we seek to investigate the profile of school managers in the municipal education network of Mossoró/RN, observing aspects of their formative, professional, socioeconomic and performance profile. The research fits into a qualitative research that makes use of quantitative data to explain and reflect on current problems, using existing concepts and microdata base that are linked to the Ministry of Education. In this way, we seek to answer the following question: How the municipal education system of Mossoró-RN has been building the profile of school managers, in the post-creation period of the Law of Directives and Bases of Education 9.394/96 (1997 to 2019) from the contextual questionnaires of the Basic Education Assessment System? We carried out a literature review (Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations and in the Revista Brasileira de Política e Administração da Educação) and data collection on the platform of the National Research Institute Anisio Teixeira, data from Cesno Escolar and the contextual questionnaires of the Education Assessment System Basic that were applied from 1997 to 2019. For this discussion we work with the following concepts in the area of the object of study: school administration and management, organization and direction, public administration.
