RESUMO:

Teaching practice often does not permeate the themes of sexuality and/or gender, to the
detriment of the heteronormativity that generally marks the school context. In the case
of teaching with Deaf subjects, these themes are not used, since ableism makes it
invisible that they may have sexual orientations and gender identities outside the norm.
Therefore, the dialogue between diversity and inclusion is still a challenge for
contemporary teaching practice. In this sense, the present work aims to understand
whether there are discussions around LGBTI+ issues in the teaching practice of teachers
from CAS-Mossoró/RN (FREIRE, 1967). For this, we will present the CAS and the
profile of the teachers, we will discuss theoretically about the school environment and
LGBTI+ issues and about deafness and teaching practice; seeks to understand, through
dialogues and the use of images, involved in the “culture circle”, what knowledge do
CAS teachers have on LGBTI+ issues and we verified whether there is in teaching
practice ) ) teachers something about sexual and gender diversity. With the intention of
achieving the proposed objectives, field visits were made to collect basic information
from the CAS and from the teachers, observing the institution's routine and conducting
an interview with open and semi-structured questions with the director of the institution.
Our next stage of research will be the execution of the Freirean “culture circles”
(FREIRE, 1967) with the teachers, who will also be brought. Themes as theoretical
support for dialogue: Butler (2018) Junqueira (2009) and Louro (1997) related to issues
of sexuality, gender and school context; Mello (2014), Strobel (2009) and Skiliar (2001)
on ableism and Deaf education. The research is under construction, subject to
improvements.
