RESUMO:

This research aims to analyze how the appreciation of local culture,especially fishing
culture,and the context can be inserted into the curriculum as a proposition of meaningful
teaching strategies.We will be analyzing the curriculum and immersion in pedagogical
practices aimed at valuing the local context as a meaningful teaching-learning strategy, to
improve students’ interest in their studies;We will check how the local culture of fishing
tradition can be included within the school's curricular proposal;As well as experience the
methodology of including the appreciation of diversity and local cultural dimensions in the
curriculum, through pedagogical workshops; And evaluate the efficiency of the
methodological proposal for inclusion of local culture in the curriculum, considering its
stages of implementation, student commitment and learning. This research is part of a
qualitative approach that is developed from bibliographical research.Semi-structured
interviews will be carried out with teachers from Escola Horizonte da Cidadania,with the aim
of understanding whether the teaching staff of this institution perceives the value of
knowledge in the teaching and learning process.After the introduction of this work, in the
second chapter, we will deal with popular culture and local context in education references.

The third chapter discusses the fishing culture of the Redonda community, a reflection on this
predominant economic activity in the community and its specificities and, In this reflective
context, southern epistemology defends and promotes openness to other forms of
knowledge.The final chapter addresses, through theoretical analysis, popular culture as a
precept in educational practices in educational institutions.
