RESUMO:

The present research is the result of a study developed about the Programa de Biblioteca
Ambulante de Literatura nas Escolas - BALE, referring to its contributions to the
formation of the literary reader in Basic Education. BALE is characterized as an
extension program linked to the Departamento de Educação do Campus Avançado de Pau
dos Ferros – CAPF of the Universidade do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte – UERN. It
has its focus on the formation of the literary reader, promoting the dissemination of access
to books in school institutions and other spaces in the city of Pau dos Ferros and
region. The main methodological tool used by the BALE Program to spread reading is
storytelling, which captivates and delights the public wherever it goes by exploring
reading playfully and attractively. The general objective of the research is to investigate
whether the reading mediation actions developed by the BALE Program are contributing
satisfactorily to the formation of the literary reader. The choice of theme is justified by
the observation of the high rate of delay in the formation of literary readers, especially in
the pandemic period, where access to reading and contact with books was difficult, mainly
in disadvantaged communities. As a methodological procedure, was chosen the
qualitative approach, working with direct data collection carried out through field
research. The research has a theoretical basis in authors such as Freire (1989); Sampaio
(2012); Saldanha (2017); Sole (1998); Tardif (2002) and several others. The BALE
Program has gained, throughout its history, a large proportion and national visibility, in
addition to having become a search facility for professors, university students, and the
community.
