RESUMO:

Textbooks (LD) play a fundamental role in the teaching and learning process, as instruments that mediate educational practice. Although the increasing use of educational technologies is a reality, textbooks are still the most commonly used teaching resources. However, the implementation of the new Secondary Education (EM), as established by Law nº 13,415/2017, has raised concerns regarding the possible negative effects on Brazilian education. The changes arising from this law resulted in new guidelines, with changes in curriculum parameters and in the configuration of teaching materials, which are reflected by the National Textbook Program (PNLD), playing a crucial role in the production of educational resources. In this context, it is necessary to reflect on the current educational scenario, in which the sciences are approached in an integrated way, and to understand the teachers' perceptions in relation to this new scenario of EM and what the consequences are. The objective of this research, therefore, is to present the impacts of the new EM through the analysis of a collection of textbooks of natural sciences and their technologies, approved by the National Textbook Program (PNLD, 2021), from the teaching perspective and its structure, highlighting barriers to teaching and learning. For this, a quantitative and qualitative approach was adopted, using documentary resources, bibliographical analysis, and a dialogue through a semi-structured questionnaire with the teachers. According to the results of the research, it appears that the new ME can cause damage to the training of students. This finding is based on the fact that the new curriculum structure is not able to provide equitable training for all students. The lack of uniformity in the offer of disciplines by training itineraries and in the approach to content in different areas of knowledge can result in disparities in the educational process. These disparities can generate inequalities in the education of students, since some may have access to a broader set of disciplines and contents while others may be restricted to a more limited set of options. This can compromise comprehensive training as well as the development of skills and competencies necessary for their academic and professional future. This impression can still be observed from the analysis of the didactic materials in the case of the textbooks approved by PNLD 2021. For the analysis of this material, the observation of pedagogical and methodological aspects was considered, contemplating theoretical, visual, and didactic/pedagogical resources. When examining the didactic material from the FTD publishing house, approved by the PNLD 2021, for example, there is a reduction in content, a lack of a logical sequence of the topics addressed, and a connection with the social reality of the students. In addition, the absence of a clear interdisciplinary approach between the disciplines of biology, physics, and chemistry was identified, compromising the proposal of the new EM to promote integration between the sciences. Another point that deserves attention is the lack of emphasis on digital information and communication technologies (TDIC), which are essential tools in current education. The adequate incorporation of these technologies in teaching materials could enrich and update the teaching process, making it more dynamic and responsive to contemporary demands. In summary, the results of the analysis indicate that there is still much to be done to achieve quality teaching and learning that comprehensively serves the population, taking into account its various social and cultural realities. It is essential that educational policies are continuously improved, ensuring equitable resources, valuing teachers, and creating an enriching and stimulating learning environment for all students. Only then will it be possible to promote a quality education that prepares students for the challenges of today's world.
